Free professional coaching for advanced junior tennis players at Hagley Park Tennis Club Term 2 (April to June 2007)

The Hagley Park Tennis Club (HPTC) is pleased to announce its inaugural Tennis Coaching Programme for Advanced Junior Players. Your school is invited to nominate up to two students for each age group (see attached programme description) to receive free high-level coaching during Term 2. The programme can accommodate a total of 16 students for each age group, so we will fill those slots on a first-in-first-served basis.

This programme is funded by the Christchurch City Council Riccarton/Wigram Community Board and is intended to provide talented junior tennis players in the area with an opportunity to improve their skills. The only requirements are that the students attend a Riccarton/Wigram school, are of the right age, show an interest in tennis, show promise and aptitude for tennis, have a desire to raise the level of their skills, have a good attitude and are willing to learn.

Your school needs to email the Hagley Park Tennis Club, no later than close of business Friday 20 April 2007, the following information for each student:

1. Full name of student,
2. Age,
3. Contact Name of a parent or guardian,
4. Contact phone numbers, and
5. Home address.

Also, please provide the name of a co-ordinator/contact person for your school and his or her contact information (email and phone numbers). I hope your school participates in our programme and can identify students who can take advantage of this rare opportunity.

The programme is free for students of schools in the Riccarton/Wigram area between the ages of 8 and 16 years. The programme will have two age groups with a maximum of 16 students per group. The coaching sessions will run once a week every Friday from 6 to 8pm during Term 2. The programme will run for seven weeks (start date to be advised).

Group 1          8-11 year olds           4-5pm
Group 2          12-16 year olds         5-6pm

All sessions will be held at the Hagley Park Tennis Club (Riccarton Ave) and run by the Club’s professional tennis coaches, Mark Belcher (http://hagleyparktennis.co.nz/coaching_intro.html) and Victor Bianchi.

For further information, please contact Monique MacIntosh advancedjuniortennisathagley@emailias.com, 941-8082 or 980-2270. The programme supports four of the nine community outcomes for Christchurch as described in the City Council’s long-term plan.
